MEMBERS SHOULD ATTEND HOA BOARD MEETINGS AND SPEAK UP RESPONSIBLY

A homeowners association (HOA) plays a vital role in protecting property values, maintaining community standards, and ensuring shared resources are properly managed. While the HOA’s board of directors is elected to make decisions on behalf of the association, those decisions are strongest, and most effective, when they are guided by the input of informed and engaged association members.

One of the most important ways for an HOA member to participate in the HOA is by attending board meetings. With the exception of some meetings that the directors are permitted to conduct in executive session, where the meeting is not open for attendance by all association members, directors’ meetings are open to all members and provide a window into how the association operates, how funds are spent, and what decisions are being made that affect the community and the members’ interests.
